USS Iowa Final Assignment

May is Military Appreciation Month and to celebrate, PMI-LA is holding its May Flagship meeting on May 16th from 5:30 – 8:30 on board the USS Iowa in San Pedro.
Dinner will be served and seats are limited, so sign up early!
Military can email firstname.lastname@example.org for a discount coupon to this event.
Our speaker will be VP & CIO of the Pacific Battleship Center, David Canfield.
The Pacific Battleship Center is the caretaker of the USS IOWA and is creating an interactive experience that honors and illustrates the positive contributions of this battleship and her crew at critical moments in American history. Our education programs offer lessons in history, leadership, team-building, character development and community service.
Through the dedication and hard work of her new crew, USS IOWA is once again coming to life and embarking on her new mission to educate, to inspire a love of history and to stand as a living monument to the services of the United States Armed Forces.
Tour the USS Iowa Ship
Beat the traffic and come a few hours early for a tour the ship for an additional fee of $10 per person. Just click on the “Add Tour of the USS IOWA” at the bottom of registration and arrive at the ship by 2:45. This is led by a pre-arranged tour guide, and refunds will not be available should you arrive late. You will be walking around the ship, so please dress appropriately with sturdy walking shoes. The ship is tethered and anchored, so there will be some movement.
The tour is 1.5 hours and allows additional time for the museum and gift shop before the Chapter Event begins. Due to the popularity, we have 2 groups so everyone can hear the tour guide. Please check in at the Wardroom which will be the back ramp of the ship the furthest away from parking. There will be chapter signs to guide you.
About the Speaker
David Canfield: Before becoming part of the full-time staff at Pacific Battleship Center, I volunteered over 1000 hours running network cable, setting up the business and telephone infrastructure and providing much-needed technology to the organization. I also busted rust, painted, cleaned, and did generally whatever was necessary during the hectic days between PBC receiving the ship from the Navy and opening it to the public. I am now the VP and CIO of the caretakers of the USS IOWA.
