1,000 Meals in One Sunday Morning: PMI-LA Gives Back with Project Angel Food
Sunday morning looked a little different for a group of PMI-LA members and volunteers.
Instead of heading to one of our usual professional development events or networking sessions, we rolled up our sleeves and joined Project Angel Food to help prepare meals for people in need across Los Angeles.
By the end of the morning, our group had helped make 1,000 meals.

A Sunday Morning Spent Giving Back
The morning started with an orientation that quickly had the group laughing.
One of our Project Angel Food hosts joked about spending Sunday morning helping others instead of sleeping in. He also shared how his first impression of Los Angeles was that everyone seemed a little too cool. Over time, the generosity he saw from people across the city changed that perspective.
It was a fitting way to start the morning.
From there, everyone got to work.
Our group jumped into different parts of the meal preparation process. Some volunteers printed and prepared labels. Others breaded chicken and fish or carefully laid out tilapia, so it was ready to be cooked.
Every task played a small part in moving the meals forward.

1,000 Meals and a Lot of Teamwork
For project professionals, it was hard not to notice the coordination happening around us.
There were different stations, clear responsibilities, and plenty of hands working toward the same goal. By the end of the morning, 1,000 meals had been prepared to support Project Angel Food's work in the Los Angeles community.
After the work was done, our group sat down for lunch together and had a chance to celebrate what we had accomplished.
It was a simple ending to a busy morning, and a great opportunity to spend time together outside of our usual PMI-LA events.
Showing Up for Los Angeles
Social Impact gives our chapter another way to connect with the city we call home.
Thank you to Project Angel Food for welcoming our group and to every PMI-LA member and volunteer who gave up part of their Sunday morning to participate.
1,000 meals in one morning. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday.
