Lee Mandley Volunteer of the Month: October 2019
Monica Alvarez
A steady volunteer for the past 2 years, Monica is the energy that keeps the social media machine moving. The team meets every Monday evening to discuss current strategy and how to increase our following on all 4 platforms. Since becoming director earlier this year, targets for 2 platforms have not only been met but exceeded, and twitter is within 1% of goal.
Passionate about Community Outreach, Monica participated in our STEM outreach at Northrup Grumman to meet with many aspiring new project managers. She did this after a morning of Beach Clean Up and a week before volunteering at the annual Wells Bring Hope event!
Next steps for the team are to investigate Instagram to supplement the Facebook platform and create a sharing environment for our members to post live Instagram pictures at all our events!
Great job and congratulations, Monica!
About the Lee Mandley Volunteer of the Month Award:
Founding Director of the PMI-LA Alhambra Community Meeting located at DeVry, Lee was a Construction PM and a long time member of the chapter. He was the voice and liaison for the San Gabriel Valley members east of Pasadena. Lee was the first director to institute round table discussions on interesting Project Management Topics when a speaker had to cancel at the last moment. Since 2012, we have presented the ‘Volunteer of the Month’ award to a key volunteer who exhibits the outstanding trait of working “outside-the-box” to ensure that chapter operations are running smoothly in their area. This award was renamed later that year to honor Lee Mandley.
