Over 50 Professionals Came Together to Explore Volunteering with PMI-LA

Chapter News

This past Saturday, over 50 members and prospective volunteers joined us for the PMI-LA Volunteer Recruiting Event, and the energy in the room said it all.

From the moment attendees checked in, the atmosphere was filled with curiosity, connection, and purpose. Professionals from diverse industries gathered not just to learn about volunteer roles, but to explore how getting involved with PMI-LA can shape careers, expand networks, and create meaningful impact.

More Than Volunteering — It’s Career Momentum

One of the highlights of the event was hearing directly from volunteers who have experienced firsthand how service can translate into opportunity.

Anthony Scott shared how volunteering with PMI-LA — how chapter involvement strengthened his leadership presence and positioned him for a new professional opportunities.

Their message was clear:
Volunteering isn’t just giving back. It’s stepping forward.

What We Covered

Attendees had the opportunity to:

  • Meet members of the 2026 Board of Directors
  • Learn about open volunteer roles across committees
  • Understand the application and onboarding process
  • Participate in breakout discussions and Q&A sessions
  • Network with fellow project professionals

The conversations were candid and encouraging. Many attendees expressed interest in applying their skills beyond their day jobs and contributing to something larger than themselves.

Why This Matters

PMI-LA thrives because of its volunteers. Every event, webinar, mentorship program, and professional development initiative is powered by members who raise their hands and say, “I’ll help.”

When professionals volunteer, they:

  • Build leadership experience
  • Develop new competencies
  • Expand their network
  • Increase visibility within the chapter
  • Strengthen their resumes
  • Create real impact in the project management community

This event was a reminder that professional growth doesn’t happen in isolation — it happens in community.
