October Flagship Recap: Sustainability at Topgolf
Breakfast, Networking & Sustainability
The morning started on the third floor of Topgolf, where attendees were greeted with breakfast, including eggs, French toast, tater tots, muffins, and plenty of coffee. After an hour of networking, the fireside conversation began around 11 AM and quickly moved beyond the broad idea of sustainability into what it looks like here in Los Angeles. The panel touched on the road to LA28, the environmental impact and ethical questions surrounding data centers, and even something as familiar as artificial turf and the consequences of replacing natural surfaces with hot plastic. There were some hard realities in the conversation, including the financial and practical barriers that can slow progress, but one of the strongest themes was hope. Progress is happening, even when it isn't happening as quickly or as easily as we'd like.
Putting Our Knowledge to the Test
After the conversation, it was time to see how much everyone had been paying attention. Attendees were quizzed on sustainability topics from the discussion, and everyone got the answers right, making everyone a winner. From there, the group headed out to the golf bays, where team captains brought everyone together for a couple more hours of golf, conversation, and friendly competition.
