Thursday, August 17th, 7:30 am – 9:00 am
Speaker: Kevin Fichtner, PMP
Topic: Scrum For Your Life. The Principles of Scrum and How You Use Them to Achieve Your Goals
No registration required!
Agile Project Management is in big demand by companies that want to develop software faster and stay ahead of the rapidly changing technology curve. Using the principles of Scrum that you will learn in this session, you can improve your results in both your professional and personal life!
The Waterfall approach of documenting requirements, developing, testing, and then delivering is poorly suited to software as requirements frequently change before the product is complete.
Scrum is designed to deliver something functional every two to six weeks! This allows users to provide feedback rapidly to the development team, and the development team learns how to work together more efficiently faster.
Many of us take a Waterfall approach to life. We set goals three to five years into the future and find that desires, circumstances and resources can change dramatically in that timeframe. We set annual goals in January of each year, only to lose interest long before the year is over.
By applying the principles of Scrum to our personal goals, we can achieve more, be happier, and respond to change more easily.
In this session, we will review the fundamentals of Scrum, including:
- Origins of Scrum
- Adoption to Software Development
- Scrum Roles
- Scrum Artifacts
- Scrum Events
We will go through an example of how to apply the principles and tools of Scrum to demonstrate how it works.
