Christopher Yang

Agile methodologies are the basis to an adaptive approach for product development and project delivery in today’s dynamic and fast paced environment.

In this presentation, Chris will explain how agile trends and emerging practices differ from sequential, predictive, waterfall methodologies and traditional lifecycle development approaches. Chris will focus on Scrum and Kanban, two popular methodologies for developing innovative products and services, based on a small set of core values, principles, and practices.



About the Speaker

Leadership is about impact, influence and inspiration. Christopher Yang is no stranger to these things, and with a proven track record of innovation in the technology and project management sphere, he knows firsthand the importance that strategic leadership can play in the success of any organization. As the Vice President of Engineering at Corporate Travel Management (ASX: CTD), he is responsible for 50 highly-skilled technical staff members and deeply involved with technology both internally and externally to develop, maintain, and enhance products.

Chris previously served as Senior Director – US Loyalty Technology at Corporate Travel Management, Director – Project Management and Head of PMO at Onestop Internet, Senior Manager – E-Commerce Project Management at Ticketmaster, and as Technical Lead / Technical Program Manager – Software Engineering at DirecTV. During those periods, Chris oversaw a myriad of successful projects and technology initiatives.

In all of his positions, Chris has been involved in all aspects of technology management, and is proven in seeing all products and projects to their successful fruition. Chris has a strong understanding of software development, project and portfolio management, team building and change management and is expert at influencing change by analyzing business needs, working with cross-functional teams, and building effective relationships. He has a reputation for meeting organizational objectives and exceeding productivity and revenue goals while identifying and mitigating possible risks or issues that may side track success.

On the side, Chris teaches at the Department of Engineering and Technology at UCLA Extension. Chris helps develop and deliver curriculum for project management certificate program. Some of courses include Agile Project Management (MGMT X 418.31C) and Risk Analysis and Project Management (MGMT X 443.2).

Chris has four degrees from the University of Southern California – MBA, Master of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Master of Science in Computer Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and Computer Science.

Christopher also has a wealth of key certifications, including Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Program Management Professional (PgMP), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Product Manager (CPM), Professional Agile Leadership (PAL I) and ITIL.
