CAREER DEV | USC Bovard College Lecture Series: Large Scale Transformation

Strategy = Business Acumen

Large Scale Transformation

Being one of the most successful project, program, and portfolio managers requires more than best practices (i.e. the blueprint). It requires creating effective cultures (i.e. architects use the tools) that execute those practices leading to transformative performances. Attendees will learn what extra tools you can equip yourself with to successfully transform a project on a large scale.

The presentation is conducted from the leadership’s standpoint of getting a portfolio to move a large-scale transformation from a place of just an idea to a tangible product.  Oftentimes from a PMI standpoint, the conventional approach or technical methodology of a PM makes this transformation seem like it should be easy -- as if just moving from A-Z -- however, leadership has to answer:

 1. What do you want? Then from there how do you capitalize on putting recourses in place in order to 2. Capitalize on those investments. Once those resources are in place leadership has to now collec

tively focus on progress so that those supporting this transformation can keep 3. Moving it forward. Now, with something this large scale, keeping consistent with the message of the Vision is paramount -- and this will be a big change for some, but leadership has to stay on track by 4. Keeping Change Consistent.  Along the way, there will be things you have to consider to bring this from a back-of-the-napkin idea from Sponsors or Board Members in order to bring this approach home -- so finally there are 5. Things to Consider.
