NORTH LA | Putting the Leader Back Into Leadership
Meeting deadlines, making decisions, and gaining stakeholder buy-in are considered hallmarks of effective leadership, but are we missing something? A leader may excel at getting-the-job-done, and simultaneously overlook the impact that personal significance and positive engagement has on project success. Let’s think back on what originally drove you to become a leader in the first place, and more importantly remember that young emerging professionals are following in your footsteps.
This interactive presentation will inspire leaders to reenergize their personal significance by journeying through passion-defining moments that will activate personal mission, vision, value, purpose and an attitude of paying it forward through consequential difference-making.
About The Speaker: Mishirika Scott
Mishirika Scott is an IT Systems Project Manager and Master Mentor with a strong conviction that vision and purpose-driven work generates personal significance that produces impact. She specializes in project management, teaching, and mentoring emerging professionals into future business leaders.
Mishirika manages information technology projects in higher education using a collaborative approach. Her secret to success is in building confidence and passion within the members of the teams she leads by listening to their needs, asking the right questions and affirming individual significance. This all-hands approach motivates team members to take pride in their work and exceed performance expectations.
Prior to her current project management role, Mishirika brings 17 years of prior experience in curriculum development, risk management, sales, peer counseling, teaching, and research in a range of sectors including public, private and government. In addition to her graduate degree in Project Management, she also earned a professional credential in project management (CAPM from PMI). She received honorable mention for her research contributions in a 2009 publication, titled “Connecting Social Problems and Popular Culture: Why Media is not the Answer.”
