PMI-LA is excited to bring back our in-person, authorized PMP® Prep Course! This five-day experience gives project managers everything they need to prepare for the PMP exam — from the required 35 contact hours to insider tips, practice exams, and study aids created by the same experts who helped shape PMP exam content.

This session is a special 2026 offering at pre-pandemic rates. If successful, PMI-LA intends to continue offering PMP® Prep courses in both spring and fall.

Freeway directions

  • From the 10 Freeway East:
    • Exit at Hoover, go south for 3/4 mile, turn left on Adams, then left on St. James Place. At the end of the street, turn right. The campus entrance is straight ahead.
  • From the 10 Freeway West:
    • Take Exit 13 for Harbor Fwy toward San Pedro/110. Continue with the directions for the 110 Freeway south below.
  • From the 110 Freeway South:
    • Take the 10 Freeway East exit from the 110, and immediately veer to the left towards the Adams exit, and then veer to the right to the off-ramp (note: the Adams exit cannot be accessed directly from the 110 Freeway South, due to construction).
    • At the bottom of the Adams off-ramp, proceed straight through the stoplight, then turn right on Figueroa at the stop sign. Turn right on Adams and right on St. James Place.
    • At the end of the street, turn right. The campus entrance is straight ahead.
  • From the 110 Freeway North:
    • Exit at Adams. Turn left on Adams and right on St. James Place.
    • At the end of the street, turn right. The campus entrance is straight ahead.

Svetlana (SK) Averbukh

Svetlana (SK) Averbukh

With dual degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics, Svetlana has built a successful career centered around technology. While her academic foundation is strong in both fields, it is her Computer Science background that she has most actively applied throughout her professional journey. She began her career as a programmer and steadily expanded her expertise into quality assurance, sales and marketing, systems and business analysis, and ultimately, project management. For many years, she has worked in IT project management and consulting—fields she is deeply passionate about. Svetlana has led a wide range of technology initiatives across diverse industries. A highly people-oriented professional, she thrives on collaborating with clients to address their business and technical challenges. In addition to her hands-on experience, Svetlana is passionate about teaching and mentoring. She has taught various technology courses with a strong focus on Project Management. As the former Vice President of Career Development for the PMI-LA chapter, she has organized and led PMP Prep classes for many years. Many of her students have successfully passed the PMP exam under her guidance, a testament to her effective and inspiring teaching style.

David Doan

David C. Doan is a distinguished healthcare technology and business transformation leader with over 25 years of dedicated project management expertise and more than 30 years of experience driving innovation across the healthcare ecosystem. As a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), and Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), David combines deep technical knowledge with a proven track record of leading complex, high-stakes initiatives that leverage AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics to optimize operations and health outcomes. Currently serving as Director, Consult Partner at Kyndryl, David partners with C-level and IT executives to orchestrate strategic transformations and deliver complex, technology-driven solutions. His consultative approach is rooted in building trust-based relationships and uniting cross-functional teams to achieve sustainable results. A seasoned educator and mentor, David is committed to developing next-generation talent, serving as a mentor for numerous organizations. David holds a PhD in Health Services, an MBA, a Master in Public Health, and a Master of Science in Health Services Administration, alongside undergraduate degrees in Nursing and Psychology. His multidisciplinary background as a registered nurse and a business executive allows him to bring a balanced, real-world perspective to the classroom, ensuring that PMP candidates not only master the PMBOK® Guide principles but also understand their practical application in leading and maximizing project success.

Hayk Ghahramanyan is a certified Technical Project Manager with over a decade of experience leading Agile transformations, cross-functional initiatives, and enterprise-level product launches. He currently serves as Associate Vice President of PMO & Administration at the PMI Los Angeles Chapter and Technical Project Manager at AXS, where he drives project success through strategic planning, Agile coaching, and team leadership.

Deby Covey

Deby Covey

Deby Covey is PMP® and CSM certified Director of Digital Process Solutions & Certificates Management with over 20 years’ experience at OpenText/GXS leading Projects and Programs. As a Director she has an RMO (Operational) team and a PMO (Solutions driven) utilizing both Predictive and Adaptive methodologies respectively. She currently serves as the Immediate Past-President at the PMI-Los Angeles Chapter. Deby holds an MBA with a concentration in Marketing & Management from Virginia Tech, Project Management Professional (PMP®), and Certified Scrum Master (CSM). Her teaching style is interactive with a variety of experiences to share and to encourage students to share as well. She serves as a 2026 chapter mentor as well as in 2015-2018 Region 7 Mentor for PMI, enabling chapter leaders and professionals to have the tools they need to grow as leaders and professionals.
