Multi-Chapter | Sustainability in Action: Rethinking Project Planning; featuring Lucila Dotto

Leadership = Power Skills
Technical = Ways of Working
Strategy = Business Acumen

This 75-minute virtual session brings together PMI-Global, PMI-LA, Sound of Earth, and leading sustainability partners to show practical ways project managers can embed sustainability into project planning, delivery, and governance -- and to map clear upskilling pathways to Sustainable Project Management (instead of green) Green Project Management (GPM) and the GPM-b certification.

The session features a 15-minute PMI-Global primer on why sustainability must be integral to modern project work, a showcase of local and regional sustainability initiatives from Los Angeles Climate Week, Sound of Earth, Imperion, and other partners, and a focused upskilling segment that explains what sustainable project management means in practice, GPM and GPM-b certification requirements, timelines, and implementation examples. Participants will gain access to concrete tools, templates, and partner resources so they can start applying ideas immediately.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

· Explain three compelling business, social, or regulatory reasons to integrate sustainability into project planning and how these align with organizational strategy.

· Identify at least four practical sustainability practices, metrics, or tools -- such as lifecycle thinking, carbon accounting, stakeholder equity checks, and the P5 methodology -- that can be applied at project initiation, planning, and closeout.

· Learn what Los Angeles Climate Week, Sound of Earth, and Imperion are doing in support of sustainability.

· Understand the value and requirements of the GPM-b™ certification in Sustainable Project Management.
