Multi-Chapter | Building Your Powerful Personal Brand

Leadership = Power Skills

Session Description:

In today’s project-driven marketplace, your personal brand is your professional reputation in motion – what you’re known for, the value you reliably deliver, and the way you show up across projects, stakeholders, and communities. This interactive session helps PMI-LA members, mentors, and mentees clarify and strengthen a personal brand that is authentic, consistent, and aligned to their career goals (e.g., landing the next role, building credibility as a PM/leader, expanding influence, or positioning for speaking/board opportunities).

Participants will learn a practical framework for defining their niche topics, values, and “uniquely you” differentiators; translating that into a clear one-sentence personal brand statement; and building a realistic visibility plan across the channels that matter (LinkedIn, thought leadership, speaking, and professional associations). The session includes guided reflection, a simple self-assessment, and concrete next steps so attendees leave with a draft brand statement and a 30-day action plan to strengthen how they show up – online and in real-life project environments.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Define what a personal brand is (and is not) and explain why it matters at different career stages (early, mid, senior/leadership).
  2. Identify their personal brand foundation: core values, strengths/UVP (unique value proposition), niche topics, personality/voice, and “uniquely you” differentiators.
  3. Draft a concise, audience-specific personal brand statement using a simple formula (“I use… to… so that…”).
  4. Assess how they are currently “showing up” (digital footprint, social presence, thought leadership, boards/associations, speaking) and prioritize 1–2 areas for improvement.
  5. Create a practical 30-day personal brand action plan with weekly habits to increase visibility and credibility (without feeling performative or inauthentic).
