The Good Karma Los Angeles and Our Inspiration Behind Organizing the 5K Walk Event

A Message from the Founder, Vishal Narayan

The Good Karma, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is built on the foundation of giving back to those who need it the most. Our core mission is to serve and uplift our community, especially for those experiencing homelessness and hardships in meeting their daily needs. We offer a weekly Sunday meal service in Skid Row, Los Angeles, and have served over 100,000 meals over the last four years.

After four years of running Good Karma and serving over 100,000 meals, I felt a strong desire to do even more for our community. The decision to organize this 5K walk was deeply personal, as the two causes we are supporting—cancer and mental health—have profoundly affected my family. This walk is named Priya Means Love, in honor of my loved ones who lost their battles to these diseases. This causes is incredibly close to my heart because I am driven to make a difference in their memory and supporting others facing similar battles. This event is a natural extension of The Good Karma LA’s commitmenttowards compassion, support, and collective action.

There is something truly magical about coming together as a community to walk for a cause. It's more than just an event; it's a healing experience that brings people closer and raises awareness about critical issues affecting our lives. Through this event, I aim to unite people who are currently struggling with mental health issues and those fighting cancer, as well as their loved ones, fostering a sense of community and awareness. My hope is that participants will find closure and realize they are not alone in their struggles. By joining this event, they will become part of a supportive community, finding strength and solidarity in shared experiences.

Through Priya Means Love, I hope to forge new, lasting friendships and partnerships that will drive future events and initiatives, strengthening our collective efforts to help those in need. All proceeds from this event will go directly to JIVA Mental Health and Cancer Support Community Los Angeles and will not be directly funding The Good Karma LA. If you would like to support us, I encourage you to visit our website https://www.thegoodkarmala.org/ and sign up to join us on one of our Sunday events.

Event will be held, rain or shine.
