FLAGSHIP | Building and Managing Trust-Based Relationships
Decades of research demonstrate that when people feel psychologically fulfilled, they tend to be healthier, happier, and more productive. To inspire a high-performing team to create meaningful value to stakeholders, project managers (or any role) need to have a clear purpose, have the appropriate people skills, and have intrinsic motivation. To be an effective project manager, effective communications and the ability to cultivate and develop trust-based relationships are critical skills that need to be harnessed and refined.
In A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge or PMBOK Guide (Seventh Ed., 2021), it is recommended that “adapting communication style and messaging so that they are relevant to the audience” (p. 69) and that “communications is the most important factor in engaging with stakeholders effectively” (p. 159). Stephen Covey asserts that: “Trust is the glue of life. It’s the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It’s the foundational principle that holds all relationships.” Therefore, it is important to learn the theoretical frameworks of The Trust Equation (credibility, reliability, intimacy, and self-orientation) and Social Styles (driving, expressive, amiable, and analytical) to effectively communicate to your internal and external clients and stakeholders.
NOTE: An optional assessment will be sent to you the day before the event.
