Speaker

speaker-raban-shirin.jpgShirin Raban is an inter-disciplinary creative and educator who helps students and mid-career professionals articulate and translate their passions into fulfilling and successful careers. Shirin teaches courses in the practice and history of graphic design at UCLA Extension and California State University Northridge. She is the recipient of the UCLA Extension Design Communication Art’s 2010 and 2017 Outstanding Instructor Award. She has presented at the UCLA Future of Work Conference, the CSUN Conquer the Portfolio Challenge and the USC Casden Institute.
Shirin has over fifteen years of experience in Branding and Packaging design for national and international brands such as Mattel, Saban Entertainment, Herbalife and Korbel including the Presidential and Inaugural Champagne labels. Her package designs for Okami Japanese Seafood were published in the Big Book of Packaging.
Her current creative practice is creating documentaries about the immigrant experience. Her latest film, Between the Shells, began broadcasting on Jewish Life Television in May 2020 and was recognized as official selection at the Lift Off, Film Girl, YoFifest and CineTornado Film Festivals, with an Honorable Mention from New Directors Film Festival.
